Tell me what’s happening in your organisation. The thing that’s stalling, the gap you’re covering, the review you’ve been putting off. I’ll ask some questions, tell you what I’d do about it, and be straight with you about whether I’m the right person for it. Sometimes the honest answer is that you need a permanent hire, or a specialist in something I don’t do. I’d far rather say that on a first call than three months into an engagement.

Useful to have ready, though nothing is required: roughly how big the organisation is, what’s prompting the conversation now, and whether you’re thinking days a week, full-time cover, a diagnostic, or a training day.
